Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) conserves wildlife and ecosystems focusing on protected areas and outstanding wild places. We aim to work with and for people to secure biodiversity in key ecosystems worldwide as the basis for all life and the livelihoods of present and future generations. FZS maintains long-term conservation programmes in Africa, South America, Asia and Europe. In South America, FZS works in the Amazon basin and adjacent areas. In 2014, FZS expanded its work to Guyana and started to support the Protected Areas Commission (PAC) in establishing an effective management for the recently declared Kanuku Mountains Protected Area.

Guyana, South America’s only English speaking country, has a spectacular landscape and a stable diversity of wildlife that up until now has been relatively unaltered by development activities. Its 80% forest cover is still intricately linked with the day-to-day survival of thousands of people who hunt, fish, farm and gather materials in its forests.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join this exciting project by 1st October 2019 as the

Project Leader Kanuku Mountains (f/m/d)

You will continue to strengthen the support to and the cooperation with the PAC and will help to drive our engagement in the country.
