Mission Wilderness 2025: The Frankfurt Zoological Society’s annual report highlights conservation efforts in 18 countries, featuring programs, achievements, progress, and financial results.

Our annual report, Mission Wilderness 2025, looks back at our conservation work in 2025. During the year, we were active in 28 projects and programs across 18 countries, employed approximately 1,000 people worldwide, and invested around 47 million euros in our conservation program.

The report highlights the progress we made together with our partners in 2025, where we expanded our efforts, and how our work contributes to the long-term protection of large, biodiversity-rich landscapes.

At the heart of our work are strictly protected areas covering a total of approximately 400,000 square kilometers. Our conservation efforts extend beyond the boundaries of individual protected areas to include the surrounding landscapes.

In 2025, we expanded our work with a new country program in Equatorial Guinea and additional project areas in the Brazilian Amazon. Together with our partners, we also reintroduced 30 southern white rhinos to Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe.

Conservation Requires Long-Term Commitment

Protecting large, biodiversity-rich landscapes is a responsibility that spans decades and generations. That is why we work closely with our partners over the long term to strengthen protected areas, conserve biodiversity, and ensure that conservation efforts are firmly established and sustained on the ground.
