David Bonderman’s impact on conservation in Zambia was profound. Through his Wildcat Foundation, he invested heavily in the North Luangwa and Nsumbu landscapes, providing critical infrastructure, scout equipment, salaries, and operations. His efforts helped stabilize these areas, addressing emerging threats such as illegal land use, encroachment of protected areas, and the illegal timber trade. His investments not only attracted additional support but also strengthened these landscapes, ensuring better protection for wildlife and improving the livelihoods of local communities.

David Bonderman’s impact on conservation was massive and he has left a legacy that stood the test of the recent ivory and rhino poaching crisis and is now integral to preventing illegal land use change, encroachment of protected areas, and the illegal timber trade, and countering the growing illegal bushmeat demand increase.
