Working Student – Nature-based Finance (gn)

HQ: Frankfurt, Zoologische Gesellschaft Frankfurt von 1858 e.V., Conservation Funding, HQ Working Students, part-time

About the Project

Are you passionate about finding smart financial pathways to protect our planet’s most precious ecosystems? Join us at the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) and help shape the future of Nature-based Finance – where sustainability meets strategy.

The Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is an international nature conservation organization dedicated to preserving wildlife and ecosystems in protected areas and outstanding wilderness areas. FZS is therefore active in species-rich areas in Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Central and South America and Southeast Asia. Wherever national parks and wilderness areas need support, FZS works closely with local communities, nature conservation authorities, national park administrations and other NGOs.

About the Position

In this role, you will help us translate big ideas into real-world impact — supporting the development of innovative financing approaches that make conservation work financially sustainable. The position is planned for 6 months.

  • Assist with research and documentation on nature-based financial instruments for internal teams and partners.

Beyond the core tasks, you’ll have the opportunity to shape your own learning journey by exploring topics that spark your curiosity, such as conducting market research, mapping key actors in the Nature-based Solutions space, and contributing to a global framework for nature-based finance.

These topics are an invitation to learn, experiment, and contribute your own perspective to the growing field of Nature-based Finance.

Your Profile

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in Environmental Economics, Finance, Conservation, Sustainable Development, Public Policy, Business, or a related field
  • Relevant experience or familiarity with green and sustainable finance or monitoring, evaluation & learning (MEL) frameworks topics as well as prior engagement with NGOs or conservation-focused organizations is a plus
