Annual Report 2006

We are very pleased to present you with the Annual Report of the Frankfurt Zoological Society of 1858 e. V. and our «Help for Threatened Wildlife» Foundation. Beyond providing a detailed account of our business activities and sound financial basis, the Report covers a wide spectrum extending from current debates on climate change, to exciting news from our many projects, some of which we have been pursuing for decades. As in the past, our accounting and financial statements have received the unqualified approval of the auditing firm elected by our membership.

Noah’s Ark. What better admonition to preserve creation than this allegory from the first book of Moses in the Old Testament? It represents the essence of our concerted efforts to preserve biological diversity on the earth, a mandate to which the Frankfurt Zoological Society and its supporting «Help for Threatened Wildlife» Foundation are bound by statute, and all of the members of our team work enthusiastically towards this goal. We are fortunate to be able to rely on a score of dedicated partners all over the world with whom we work hand in hand. Our project activities in about 30 countries – and in Germany – would be unthinkable without their heartfelt support and generous funding. You can be assured that we are doing our utmost to invest the resources entrusted to us with care and according to a well-conceived conservation strategy.

On behalf of the boards of the FZS and the Foundation, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of our members, donors and friends. This same sentiment also goes out to our many partners all over the world as well as our dedicated staff in Frankfurt.

We are counting on your continued support, for the challenges described in this report will only be joined by new ones in the future. Our passion and commitment will not diminish in meeting theses challenges.
