    Attack on FZS facilities in Bukit Tiga Puluh, Indonesia

    On Sunday, February 25th and Monday, February 26th, 2024, serious incidents occurred at two FZS facilities on Sumatra. Fortunately, no one was injured, but there was significant material damage. Police investigations are ongoing.

    A young Sumatran elephant had been separated from its herd and travelling towards a town. This was dangerous to both people and the animal. Rescuing it was a daunting task, requiring a large team and a lot of elephant knowledge but FZS Sumatra was ready.

    For five years, two young Sumatran orangutans were kept as pets in a private home in Thailand. Now they are in Indonesia, at the FZS Jungle School, where soon they will begin learning the skills, they will need to someday survive independently in the forests of Bukit Tiga Puluh.
