Frankfurt Zoological Society – U.S. is a non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 2007 by American friends and supporters of the Frankfurt Zoological Society. The organization partners with FZS to conserve nature in large, high-biodiversity landscapes around the world, together with national wildlife authorities and local communities.

The mission of Frankfurt Zoological Society – U.S. is to conserve wildlife and ecosystems focusing on protected areas and outstanding wild places.

Frankfurt Zoological Society – U.S. main purpose is the conservation of wilderness and biodiversity worldwide. Frankfurt Zoological Society – U.S. also seeks to enhance the general public’s understanding of the importance of wildlife conservation and the appreciation of nature’s diversity on our planet.

Frankfurt Zoological Society – U.S. envisions a world where wildlife and wild places are cherished and conserved in recognition of both their intrinsic worth and economic importance for present and future generations.

We recognize that humans are both the source of environmental problems and the key to their solution.

Phil Berry Fund

Phil Berry was a remarkable man who devoted his life to the wildlife and people of Zambia’s Luangwa Valley. A long-term friend and partner of FZS, he was an outstanding naturalist and a tireless conservationist, whose contributions to the Luangwa landscape can hardly be overstated. As a young game ranger in the 1960s, Phil was one of an early generation of pioneers who worked with Zambian wildlife authorities and communities to create some of the continent’s finest game reserves. Fired by a spirit of adventure, his chosen career required unflagging dedication, the ability to face many hardships, and a fierce determination to preserve Zambia’s wild places.

Conservation Leadership Training

Protecting wildlife and wild places requires skilled, adaptive leaders. That’s why Frankfurt Zoological Society U.S. (FZS-US) has partnered with the Effective Conservation Training Initiative to support practice-based training that prepares conservation professionals to lead complex field programs with confidence and impact.

The Effective Conservation Training Initiative provides practical instruction for rangers, conservation managers, NGO staff, government partners, and community organizations. Participants learn to set clear objectives, assess threats, measure impact, and adaptively manage the landscapes they protect.
